Paramecium bursaria under phase contrast illumination. P. bursaria is a single-celled organism or ciliate protozoa covered with hair-like projections, which it uses to move and feed. Their natural habitat is fresh water in which it feeds on bacteria. P. bursaria is the only type of Paramecium that forms symbiotic relationships with algae. Magnification 600x.
