Amazon Treesnake (Imantodes lentiferus)
The Amazon Treesnake (Imantodes lentiferus) is one of several species of snakes that are remarkable for their prehensile ability and extraordinarily slender build. Found in the Amazon Basin, this lizard- and frog eater is most common near the Andes Mountains. It leads an arboreal life and seldom is found on the ground. Reaching about a meter in length (~3), this snake is so slender that a large one can sit in the palm of your hand. Photographed in rainforest along the banks of the Amazon River in Loreto, Peru, during a night hike, September 2018.
