Primrose, Macro Photo
Macro photograph of a longitudinally cut flower of a primrose (Primula veris). At the very top, the petals can be seen in yellow. In the uppermost part of the calyx, the stamens with emerging pollen are visible, and, further down, the female part of the flower (the pistil) is visible as a green ball on a long stem. At the very bottom of the flower base is the ovary, in which the seeds ripen after fertilization. Primroses are used as medicinal plants because of their high saponin content in the leaves and roots. Herbal tea and juices from it are used as expectorant in colds and chronic bronchitis. In folk medicine, the blossom is also used as a nerve remedy for headaches, neuralgia, tremors, dizziness and as a cardiac tonic. Macro picture. Magnification: 3x (at 10x15cm image size).
