WWII Shipwreck
There are many wrecks buried beneath the sand on Hatteras Island, but few can be seen. In this photograph, a WWII landing ship (LST) broke from a tug near Cape Hatteras and drifted onto the beach. One part of the ship is still offshore in the background.
