Imaging of Colloid Cyst, MRI
This axial (cross sectional) T2 weighted MRI image of the head shows the typical appearance of a colloid cyst in the anterior superior third ventricle at the foramen of Monro with obstructive hydrocephalus (enlarged lateral ventricles). If these cysts acutely obstruct the lateral ventricles at the foramen of Monro they can cause sudden death.
