This was part of research carried out at the Fixed Nitrogen Research Laboratory in the McKinley Building, at the American University, Washington DC, USA. This laboratory, founded in 1920 and located here until 1941, was used to study nitrogen in the atmosphere and its potential use in fertilizer.
