The Madagascar tree boa is one of three boa species endemic to Madagascar. It is a non-venomous constrictor, and kills its prey by wrapping around it and squeezing it until it suffocates, before swallowing the animal whole. When holding prey, the snake waits for the animal to breathe out, each time it does, the boa tightens it grip, making it hard for the prey to breathe in again. Photographed in the Montagne des Francais Reserve, Madagascar.Credit:Philippe Psaila / Science SourceSize:5378px × 3600px (~55 MB)Restrictions:No Sale through SubagentsGet PricingHow Will The Visual Be Used?ShareKeywords:animal-biology-boa-boa manditra-boidae-carnivore-coil-coiled-constrict-constrictor-curl-curled-herpetology-madagascan-madagascan tree boa-madagascar tree boa-malagasy-malagasy tree boa-manditra-montagne des francais reserve-nature reserve-non-venomous-reptile-reserve-resting-sanzinia madagascariensis-single-snake-strangle-suffocate-vertebrate-Wildlife-Z780/0132-Z7800132-zoologyFolder Legacy Identifier:spl001_hdModel release:Not releasedParent folder:SPL bulkload #6
