This sagittal (from the side) T2 weighted MRI image of the lumbar spine in a person with prostate cancer, shows the typical appearance of a blastic (sclerotic) metastasis to bone from their prostate cancer. These lesions are seen as dark areas of signal intensity. Prostate cancer very typically results in blastic (sclerotic) metastatic lesions to the bone. These appear as very dark regions of signal intensity on MRI.
