Zinc reacting with silver nitrate, 3 of 3
Description:
Zinc reacting with silver nitrate, 3 of 3. Zinc-coated (galvanized) screw was placed in a test tube (Photo 1). 0.5 M solution of silver nitrate solution was then added to the test tube. Since zinc is more reactive than silver, a single-displacement reaction occurred: Zn + AgNO3 -> Ag + Zn(NO3)2. Photo 2 was taken few seconds after that. Photo 3 was taken about 45 sec later.
