TEM of Desmosome and Puncta Adherens
Description:
Transmission electron micrograph of a capillary epithelial junction in the rete mirabile of the gas bladder of the toadfish (Opsanus tau). There are minor sites of adhesion, which appear as small clusters of intracellular plaque, just above and below the desmosome at the center of the image. Those less dense sites of adhesion are known as puncta adherens.
