Scapolite mineral sample
Description:
Scapolite mineral sample. This sample is not a fixed mineral, but part of a complex group of minerals composed of aluminum, calcium and sodium silicates, with varying admixtures of chlorine, carbonate and sulphate. The crystals, usually yellow to light green in color, are on an underlying substrate. This sample is from the Arendal in Norway. A pencil tip (bottom right) is shown for scale.
