Sandy soil
Description:
Sandy soil. Soils with a high proportion of sand are typically light brown in colour and loose in texture. The particles in sandy soils are the largest of the soil types, giving the soil a rough feel when rubbed between the fingers. Such large particle sizes means that water drains easily through sandy soils, removing nutrients as it goes, resulting in dry, nutrient-poor soil.
