Neuroglia cells
Description:
Neuroglia cell. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a cultured neuroglia cell (blue). These cells are found in nervous tissue and support nerve fibres both structurally and metabolically. The brown cell underneath it is a fibroblastic cell with tiny microvilli. Immature neuroglia are rounded, but develop long processes as they mature, which attach to nerve cells. Neuroglia cells make up around half the mass of the central nervous system. Magnification: x1800 at 6x7cm size.
