Garden Mulch

Description: Garden mulch being processed at a waste management center in Chandler, near Brisbane, Australia. Green waste, like branches and clippings, form up to 70% of the waste taken to landfills, where it takes up space and wastes plant nutrients. Conversion to landscaping mulch recreates a resource which can be sold commercially. Some local governments provide a "turn-around" service where householders can dump green waste and take home free mulch for their gardens.
