Fourth Ventricular Epidermoid Cyst
Description:
This axial (cross sectional) Diffusion Weighted MR image (DWI) shows a multilobulated mass in the fourth ventricle with diffusion restriction. This represents the typical appearance of an epidermoid cyst which is a congenital lesion consisting of keratinized epithelium with desquamation. These expand/grow over time. This is the same as a congenital cholesteatoma. This resulted in obstructive hydrocephalus in this case.
