Description:

The screens at left show CT (Computed Tomography) scans of abdominal sections, used during the operation. TV monitors show scenes from the operating room where surgeons are carrying out a laparoscopic procedure. A laparoscope (a type of endoscope) is a tubular surgical instrument with illuminated viewing tube. It is inserted through a small incision in the abdominal wall to enable the surgeon to examine the organs within and conduct surgery. Laparoscopy is often used for examining ovaries and fallopian tubes in women.
