Doctor & positive (abnormal) Clinistix urine test
Description:
Abnormal urine glucose test. View of the hands of a general practice doctor holding a positive (abnormal) Clinistix urine test. The Clinistix test detects the level of glucose sugar in urine (seen at top right). Here, the dark colouration on the reagent strip indicates a positive result. Shown on the jar, a light pink colour reaction indicates a negative (healthy) result. In diabetic patients, levels of glucose in the urine and blood are abnormally raised. This is because there is insufficient production of the hormone insulin which allows the body to store and metabolise glucose.
