Deformed fingers from amniotic bands
Description:
Deformed fingers on the hand of an 8 year old male patient caused by amniotic bands while a fetus developing in the womb. The amniotic membrane which surrounds the fetus forms bands when it is damaged and these fibrous bands can wrap around the fetus's limbs and digits, compressing them, reducing their blood supply, and causing them to develop abnormally.
