Crocus tommasinianus flowers
Description:
Drifts of Crocus tommasinianus naturalized in grass, a garden lawn in Dorset, UK. These are some of the first spring flowers in many gardens (late February into early March in the UK). Note the shape and symmetry of the flower. Each has two whorls of three petals. This trimerous symmetry (symmetry order three) is typical of monocotyledonous plants.
