Comal Springs salamander, Eurycea nana "complex". The Comal Springs salamander is thought to be a local population of the Texas salamander, but may prove to be an undescribed species.The Edwards Aquifer of central Texas is home to several closely related entirely aquatic salamanders that retain their gills into adaulthood. This one is found in the headwaters of Comal Springs within the city of New Braunfels. Several new Eurycea species have recently been described.
