Christiaan Huygens, Model for Pendulum Clock, 1656
Description:
Model for the first pendulum clock by Christiaan Huygens (1629-1695), a prominent Dutch mathematician, astronomer, physicist, probabilist, horologist and scientist. Galileo conceived of a pendulum clock years earlier, but never lived to build one. From 1656, the time of its invention, until the 1930s, the pendulum clock was the most accurate means of keeping time.
