Brain, 3D Illustration
Description:
A 3D computer generated illustration of the brain. This image shows a cut-away view of the brain, and comes from a digital anatomy program. Most of the brain is seen in purple. Highlighted structures include the amygdala (red), hippocampus (magenta), corpus callosum (white) and a section of the cerebellum (red and white, lower right). This project aims to store structural images of human bodies in digital form, creating an anatomy atlas. The atlas is created by digitizing MRI and CAT scans, and may be used for teaching anatomy or for planning new surgical techniques. It is a project of the Department of Biological Structure at the School of Medicine, University of Washington.
