Description:
An engraving of the Boston Massacre on March 5th, 1770. Five civilians were killed by British troops in Boston after an argument broke out between a sentry and a local merchant. Among them was the black sailor and ex-slave, Crispus Atticus, depicted in the foreground of this illustration. The Boston Massacre, as it came to be known, was one of many events that eventually triggered the American Revolution.
