Blepharitis: infection at base of eyelashes
Description:
Blepharitis, showing scaling of the skin at the base of both the upper & lower eyelashes due to infection. The condition causes burning and discomfort in the eyes and flakes or crusts on the lashes. The infection may often be cleared up by removing the scales with cottonwool moistened with warm water. Antibiotic treatments may be used by rubbing them into the lid margins. Blepharitis is often associated with dandruff or chronic seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp.
