Aquatic cave snail
Description:
Aquatic snails are known to inhabit caves in North America. There are species that are only found in subterranean waters, making them obligate cave inhabitants. These species typically have no eyes and little pigment. This aquatic cave snail was discovered in the Ozarks of Oklahoma and awaits a formal scientific name. It is in the family Physidae. The entire snail could fit on the head of a cloths pin and are less than 2mm total length.
