The Cobra Lily is a carnivorous plant found in coastal Oregon and a few locations in northern California. It is also called California Pitcherplant. It has a downward-facing entry hole and multiple translucent false exits on the upward side. Insects find their way in but then exhaust themselves trying to escape through the false exits. They then fall down the hollow tube where downward-facing hairs prevent any further upward efforts. Eventually the body decomposes at the bottom, providing the plant with important nitrogen supplements.Credit:Stuart Wilson/Science SourceSize:2848px × 4288px (~34 MB)Get PricingHow Will The Visual Be Used?ShareKeywords:california flora-california pitcher plant-carnivorous plant-cobra lily-darlingtonia-darlingtonia californica-decomposed-decomposing-digested-digesting-dissected-insect-insectivore-insectivorous-north america flora-north american flora-oregon-pitcher plant-pitcher plant family-pitcherplant-pitcherplant family-plant-sarraceniaceae-trap-united states flora-us flora-wild flower-wildflowerModel release:N/AParent folder:15751
