Diademed sifakas are endemic to the rainforests of eastern and north-eastern Madagascar. They are one of the largest of the lemurs, and the largest sifaka, with a body measuring up to 55 centimeters long and a tail that can reach 51 centimeters long. They live mainly in the trees (arboreal) in small matriarchal, mixed groups of between 2 and 5 individuals, where they can leap from one vertical trunk to another. They feed on leaves, seeds, fruits and flowers.
