Coma galaxy cluster. Optical image of galaxies in the Coma cluster (or Abell 1656), lying in the constellation Coma Berenices. The bright hazy galaxy at upper left is NGC 4874. Many other, fainter, galaxies are seen as fuzzy blobs throughout the field of view. The Coma cluster contains thousands of galaxies, and lies around 300 million light years away. The CFH12K CCD camera made this image on the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope on Mauna Kea, Hawaii, USA.
